Which areas do men usually have lasered?
Most men come to us about hair that is awkward to shave or grows back quickly. The aim is long-term reduction: less hair and less frequent shaving, not guaranteed complete removal [1]. Typical areas for men are:
- Back: whole, or upper or lower on its own
- Shoulders
- Chest and stomach
- Nape (back of the neck)
- Beard line on the cheeks or neck
Underarms, arms and legs are possible too, and areas can be combined.
We do not treat intimate areas for men. Face and neck are discussed in detail before your first treatment.
Why does the beard line need a careful talk first?
On the cheeks and neck, most men want a clean line: less hair above the beard line or on the neck, while the beard itself stays. As the reduction is meant to be long-term, that line deserves some thought.
Paradoxical hair growth, meaning more hair rather than less, is also a recognised risk. A systematic review links it mainly to the face and neck and found it only very rarely elsewhere [2]. Before your first treatment we therefore discuss:
- where the line should run
- fine or light hairs along its edge
- grey beard hairs, which may respond less well
- previous skin reactions, medication and skin conditions
Does Alexandrite suit dense, dark body hair?
Our DEKA AGAIN COS is an Alexandrite laser at 755 nm [3], and its light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. Laser hair removal tends to work best on thick, dark hair on light skin [4] [5], so dense, dark body hair is often a good starting point. The consultation shows whether that applies to you.
There are limits. Blonde, grey, white or red hair may respond less well [4]. Darker skin needs a careful choice of device and settings, and Nd:YAG at 1064 nm may suit it better [6]. We only offer Alexandrite: no Nd:YAG, diode laser or IPL.
The Moveo HR handpiece combines repeated passes with contact cooling [3]. You may still feel warmth, pinpricks or a quick snapping sensation [5].
How does a session for the back, shoulders or chest work?
Your treatment is performed by Salta, who holds DEKA AGAIN training certification and German NiSV certification. A free consultation always comes before your first treatment.
In the weeks before
No tanning from sun, sunbeds or self-tanner, and no waxing, plucking or epilating; we agree the timing with you [7].
Shaving
Shave the area about 6–8 hours before your appointment. Your own back is hard to reach: whatever you cannot shave yourself, we shave for you before the treatment.
On the day
Clean skin, no cream on the area. Tell us beforehand about new medication, a recent tan, irritation or tattoos there; we do not laser over tattoos.
During treatment
You wear eye protection; the area is treated with suitable settings and cooling. Tell us straight away if anything feels uncomfortable.
Afterwards
Skip saunas, heat and hard exercise until your skin settles. Avoid direct sun and use SPF 30 or higher on exposed skin [7]. Treated hairs shed gradually; do not pluck them.
Time booked per area, for one appointment rather than the whole course:
| Area | Time booked |
|---|---|
| Whole back | 60 minutes |
| Upper or lower back | 30 minutes |
| Shoulders | 30 minutes |
| Chest | 30 minutes |
| Stomach | 30 minutes |
| Nape | 15 minutes |
| Cheeks | 15 minutes |
| Neck | 15 minutes |
How many sessions do you need, and how far apart?
Plan for a course over several months, as hair grows in phases. Mayo Clinic describes 4–8 treatments as a common guide, not a promise for your area [8].
The American Academy of Dermatology gives intervals of 4–6 weeks for most patients [5]; some areas may need longer gaps. Hair can return later, and maintenance sessions may be needed [1]. We plan the rhythm with you.
What does laser hair removal for men cost?
Men pay the same prices as everyone else: €170 per visit for the whole back, €40 for the nape. Every area and combination is also available as a 6-visit course at 30% less than six single visits, for example €714 for the whole back instead of six visits at €170.
The course is valid for 18 months, paid half at the first appointment and the rest at the third. You buy it in the studio, not online, after receiving the written course terms.

The easiest start is the free trial area on your first laser visit: a consultation and a trial treatment of one small area such as the nape or underarms, 30 minutes, €0, once per person and bookable online without payment. The trial treatment only goes ahead if your skin and hair are suitable. If you would rather talk first, for instance about your beard line, book the free laser consultation: 30 minutes without treatment, also €0. You will find us at Bundesallee 84 in Berlin-Friedenau.
Questions about this topic
Do you treat intimate areas for men?
No, we do not treat intimate areas for men. Typical areas are the back, shoulders, chest, stomach, nape and beard line.
Do I need to shave my back before the appointment?
Ideally about 6–8 hours before your appointment. If you cannot reach your back, we shave it for you before the treatment, and the same goes for any other area. Avoid waxing, plucking and epilating beforehand.
What should I know before lasering my beard line?
The reduction is long-term, so plan the line carefully. Paradoxical hair growth, meaning more hair rather than less, is described mainly on the face and neck, so we discuss both in detail before your first treatment.
Can men book the free trial area?
Yes, on your first laser visit and once per person: a consultation and a trial treatment of one small area such as the nape, 30 minutes, free of charge. The trial treatment only goes ahead if your skin and hair are suitable.
