Preparation for the Alexandrite Laser: Important Information Before Your Visit
The areas to be epilated must be carefully shaved
4-8 hours before the procedure, the areas to be epilated should be carefully shaved. If you intend to undergo laser hair removal on the upper lip area, it is sufficient to remove the hair with a depilatory cream.
Avoid intense sun exposure 2 weeks prior
It is important to protect yourself from intense sun exposure at least 14 days before the treatment. Tanning beds and self-tanners should also be avoided. In the summer, it is recommended to use sun protection with an SPF of at least 50 on exposed areas.
Do not remove hair at the root
If you have previously removed hair at the root (with wax, epilator, or tweezers), you should wait 2-3 weeks for the hair follicle to fully regrow. The laser acts directly on the pigment and the hair root.
Do not use alcohol-based products and creams
3 days before the procedure, do not apply alcohol-based products (tonics, lotions, etc.) to the areas to be treated. Do not apply moisturizing creams to the areas to be epilated. Also, do not swim in pools or rivers and lakes 3 days before the procedure.
Do not take antibiotics 2 weeks prior
14 days before the procedure, do not take antibiotics from the tetracycline group, quinolones, and sulfonamides
After the Alexandrite laser treatment: What you should know after your session
Avoid intense sun exposure for 1 week
Please refrain from intense sun exposure or tanning bed visits for 7 days after laser hair removal to minimize the risk of pigmentation.
Post-care with a light cream
After your laser hair removal session, it's advisable to care for your skin with a light cream to soothe and moisturize it.
Avoid aggressive skincare
In the 3 days following laser hair removal, it's best to refrain from aggressive skincare products like peels and scrubs to prevent irritation.
